If you’re looking into outdoor advertisement, the first thing you’re likely going to consider is cost and the return on your investment.
Without a doubt outdoor signage and vehicle graphics are among the most popular. Why? They’re everywhere, they’re eye-catching and you get a pretty big bang for your buck.
While you may not immediately opt to call whatever business is being advertised, the signage has already done its initial job – making an impression on you.
Ever seen one of those 3-D billboards? Grabs your attention, right? I once saw an outdoor sign promoting a website that was geared toward helping smokers toss away their cigarettes forever… what was so memorable about it? The legs of the structure were crushed cigarettes. Brilliant – and definitely something that makes you look twice.
What about the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile? Obviously, there’s more than just a wrap or signage involved in this advertisement but because it’s so different, colorful and out there, you won’t forget it if you see it. We’ve all seen wraps that made us look twice – a bus wrapped so that it appears to have a snake running its length or a truck wrapped as a pickle. What’s not to love?
Obviously, if you’re the one making an investment on signage, you want to make sure this type of advertising is working for you. A recent study by the Outdoor Advertising Association of American indicated that vehicle wraps and graphics are the most effective way to spend your money (per 1,000 impressions).
For example, the cost per 1,000 people to see or hear a particular advertisement for a newspaper is nearly $12, more than $20 for a primetime television commercial and only 15 cents for vehicle wraps. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that your return on investment for outdoor signage is pretty darn significant.
